I think it really depends on the health of your account. If you sell loads and have a low number of defects then I would stand your ground and refuse to pay return postage. If a defect could potentially hurt you or put your account at risk then you are going to just have to give in to their blackmail.

Personally I do not think you have done anything wrong. If the label says one size then you have to take that at good faith. Unless the label is obviously wrong i.e it says 28" and its clear they are a 40". Or if you have mistaken a EURO size for a waist measurement.

As for negative feedback. Ebay were removing feedback if you asked them but now seem to have gone in the opposite direction and refusing to remove genuinely unfair feedback. A single negative won't hurt your account. Just reply to it factually. If I saw someone had explained a negative then I would still buy from them. As others have said, having a 100% record does encourage some buyers to take advantage.

It's nothing to do with the health of an account as to whether a seller should reimburse or not....

If the OP stated the measurements and they are incorrect, they should, reimburse.

I'm not sure why anyone would think otherwise.

How wrong are the measurements? If it's quarter of an inch and the clothes are second hand so could have shrunk a little during normal washing and drying (assuming you followed the care instructions), I wouldn't refund the postage. If, however, it's a couple of inches or more I think you should refund the postage as the size you gave isn't the size of the item and wouldn't be wrong due to washing etc.

You are happy to buy a 12 'inch cake tin for the wedding cake but it actually measures 11 and there quarters then? Or a sofa to fit through a 36 inch gap that cost £100 to deliver and when it arrives is too big to fit through the carefully measured space?

    It's either right or wrong.

When it comes to clothing, it's not always that clear cut.
Some trousers waistbands are made of slightly elasticated material so although these may be sold as 34" waist, this could mean that they are designed to fit someone with a 34" waist but the actual measurement of the garment might only be 33" when relaxed.

Without knowing exactly what it was that the OP sold and how far out the buyer has stated that the measurements are, it's not really possible to know for sure if anything was misdescribed.

No it isn't always clear cut but for Ebay you need to spell it out.

    Your scenario would be:

    Label 34
    Actual 33 (relaxed)
