Financial association with ex-partner

Hello,
I found out a year ago that I have a financial association with an ex-partner from 6 years ago. I have tried in vain to contact my ex-partner who will not answer my calls or messages and has not closed the savings account that is still linking us together. I don’t understand his reasons for not closing it as it hasn't been accessed since 2010 and has 7p in it! I have been into Halifax 3 times and asked for it to be closed or me taken off it which they won’t do as it has to be done by him apparently even though it is clear no one’s using it?!
Has anyone got any advice as to what I can do going forward as I can’t disassociate myself from him financially until the account is closed and it’s very frustrating!

I hope that all makes sense! Thanks in advance

Savings accounts should not create financial associations, as they do not appear on your credit file.

Which CRAs of the 3 show it?

  • Thanks for your reply.
we had an account together (which has been closed for some time) that created the association and i was presuming it was still on there as the savings account is still active as such.
Its Experian that i checked and its also on Noddle too

Ok, in that case, fill out the online forms to break the association. If the joint account is closed with each CRA showing it. they will do that as long as you have no more linked credit accounts.

  • ok will get on that now. we have/had no other joint accounts in the past so hopefully i can get that sorted out.

Thanks for your help, its clearer when you talk it through with someone!
