Do buyers ignore a home on rightmove 8 months & assume something is wrong with it?

Post a link and I'm sure you'll get some opinions on why it's not moving. Where in Scotland are you selling?0

I would factor it into my offer - it might suggest it is overpriced - very much depends on how fast the market is.
Our previous house was on the market for 10+ months before it sold. The one we bought had been on for 2+ years - but was very over priced ... haven't found anything wrong with it (yet!).0 -
There are plenty of places in Scotland where viewings would have dried up almost completely over the last 6 months, but we don't know if you're in one of them. My very rural house went on the market in May 2013, I had no viewings after the end of August until a chance one happened in February 2014 (I wasn't expecting anyone to view at that time of year) and they bought it.0

We had our offer accepeted on a house thats been for sale for nearly a year and a half last week.
According to the EA all the other offers had been rejected due the one of the sellers not knowing the property price and what they were competing to sell against.
We went in low and got an instant acceptance without negotiation so guess their situation has changed ?!0 -
Wouldn't bother me - if it was what I was looking for I'd view it on its own merits - perhaps you need to post a link on here so you can get opinions on you and your EA's pics?
We went for a house that'd been on for a year and was just about to have an open house. As sod's law would have it another couple also decided to view at the same time and we ended up losing a bidding war on it.0 -
I'd still view it. Ours had been on for a while but it was because it sold and the sale fell through because the buyer lost her job.
My first thought would be that the vendors wouldn't accept a lower offer, not that there was something wrong with the house. In my experience if it's been on the market for ages it's because vendors have unrealistic price expectations.0 -
I'm really cynical at the moment - I have lived in my small town for a long time and it has a good reputation, which leads people to believe they can sell property at any price. I laugh at some of the prices an heave been on the market for well over a year some of them.
I wouldn't think anything was wrong, maybe overpriced though?Never again will the wolf get so close to my door :eek:0 -
I'd probably assume it was no longer available and just on there for marketing purposes!0

I bought my house after it had been on the market a fair while.
One sale had fallen through, another had dithered... and there was indeed something that probably put people off.
However, the price had also dropped in that time, to a price that I could then afford, rather than one that I... couldn't.
So yes, there was a reason why it hadn't sold. Bookmark this post for when I complain later about problems that surface
but in my mind I got what I wanted where otherwise I wouldn't. This currently makes me happy

It might cause me to offer lower but I wouldn't assume anything was wrong.
A dealbreaker for one person isn't for another.0
