As P45 lost in post then you should be asked to make a new employee declaration and you can select A this is your first job since 6 April 2015. Your new employer can then use the emergency tax code 1060L on a cumulative basis which from what you have said is what your tax code is anyway so that should be all settled. Problem is not all payroll depts. do what they are supposed to do so you may find them using some other code, if this happens probably best to contact HMRC and ask them to issue correct code to your employer.
