£250 saved from the rental account this morning. Talked to DH last night about 'tilly tidying' all of our accounts at the start of each month into savings (interest included) - I think he gets it but we'll see tomorrow!

Planning to finally switch one of my accounts to Halifax tomorrow. Glad I didn't get around to it originally as the incentive has gone up to £125 now!

Account shuffle done this morning...

£130 of 'leftover' money from last month stashed in savings.

So I made a bit of an error this morning (probably due to the fact I've got tonsillitis, bleurgh!) and forgot that the £300 we use to pay back family debts each month has already been set aside for May. So I've upped the savings stash for this month to £400, which is the maximum the Club Lloyds Monthly Saver lets you deposit.

    A happy mistake indeed!

Halifax current account application accepted. Unfortunately I applied for the wrong account, but I'm hoping to upgrade to the reward account later on. Note to self, don't do finances whilst ill! Making an appointment with DH in order to take in my ID & hopefully make one of his existing accounts joint, thereby adding another reward account fiver a month to the pot.

I'm counting the £125 switching payment as a bonus so that will go off the mortgage as & when it arrives!

I just read your diary and you really are going for it. Have you thought of giving eBay and selling stuff on FB selling pages. I sorta find in good fun. A bit like gambling in the other direction!!!! Lol. It's annoying if things don't sell though.

You've made great progress since you started!

Thank you! Ebay & Facebook are the next step for me really, I need something to keep me motivated between those lovely start/end of the month periods when there's lots of money to play with.

Our current goal is to save £550 p/m which is made up of £250 from the rental, £50 from our monthly spends in the joint account and the remaining £250 is down to me. It's a big ask, because I would literally have to spend nothing from my income during the entire month to meet it, so it's actually very motivating in that it will make me start selling, which I can be very lazy about.

Had a glimpse at the matched betting forum this evening but have run away with my tail between my legs. Way too complicated for me at the moment!

Oh dear, I seem to have changed my mind about targets again. Looking at the savings accounts we're intending on setting up this morning I think it's feasible that I might be able to fill both regular savers from the stoozing I'm doing. Which leaves the £250 I was planning to make/save each month without a home to go to.

So... I'm back to paying it off the mortgage. I probably could find a savings account that would work out better interest wise, but to be honest I'd rather see that total coming down. I think that, rather than saving, will be the motivation I need to get selling, get decluttering, start swagbucking again etc.

So yet again, the plan has changed but the aim remains the same. Overpay/offset £13,900 by the end of the year. £300 each month into savings, £250 in overpayments.*

*I reserve the right to completely alter my strategy again in 3 days time, as per usual.

Yep, as long as the savings keep going up & the mortgage balance keeps going down that's all that matters in the end!

Made my first O/P for this month of £25 this morning, 1/10 of my personal target for May. A small amount, but enough to bring the MF date down by a month.

£100 gift from my Nan = £100 knocked off the mortgage.

It's our 3rd wedding anniversary today! It seems far longer than that since I frequented the weddings forum here planning our MSE wedding. Here's me having a twirl with DH in my £84 wedding dress!
