Question on transferring out of Equiniti

Hello all,

I hold a certificated share (i.e. I hold the share certificate), administered by Equiniti. I'm looking to transfer to another broker, but Equiniti charge a £10 fee for the transfer. If I send the share certificate to the new broker (x-o), do they inform Equiniti that the shares are now being administered by them - and do I need to tell Equiniti that I'm no longer dealing with them and to close the account, or would it be done automatically?

If you send the certificate to XO, they will "tell" Equiniti - they have to because Equiniti are the registrar for the company concerned. You don't have to tell Equiniti anything, you don't need to close your account.

Equiniti should not charge you £10 for this. I believe the £10 charge is for transferring shares from Equiniti's nominee account to another nominee account, not for transferring a certificate.
