Egg / Barclaycard

Have noticed a few threads regarding this over the last few months so thought I would share my recent experience

Have to say, it was excellent

Sent an online request on 26th March, had this acknowledged by letter

Was told I would get a response by 20th May so though nothing of it, went into online banking today and lo and behold there was a refund for nearly £1300

So it took about two weeks from start to finish, so I am a very happy chap today.

What exactly did you say in your complaint to garner such a positive response?

    Nothing really.

I just answered the questions as honestly as I could. I didn't have the account number or any previous statements etc, as I had paid the card off about 4 years ago and had shredded all the docs when I moved house

As I said just tried to give as much information in the online form as I could remember
  • Ok, I have yet to submit my query to Barclaycard about the Eggcard I have with them, because I cannot find the information on whether I had any CPP. Do you have a link to the online form?

I suspect this was a PPI complaint

CPP is a different product and everyone who had it was sent a letter asking firstly to vote if they wanted a refund and secondly how to complain and get a refund. That scheme is now closed.

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
