Do HL sell a platform other than theirs?
I'm sure you could count the number of people they've advised to use low cost trackers on a fixed fee platform on the fingers of one foot.I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.
Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.0 -

Funny how since RDR, trackers have suddenly become something they actually mention and have on one of their lists now.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -

True, but subject to HL's heavy duty platform fees, so not even vaguely low cost.I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

To manage the portfolio for the person's objectives they would each need to keep taking into account what advice the other was dishing out and the investor was accepting; tax exemptions and limits would have to be managed cohesively etc etc.
Though it may be worth having a chat with more than one IFA initially, to see what they suggest and how you get on. It's just like getting three quotes for building work - maybe one will spot things the others miss. Obviously this will cost, but if the portfolio is large it could be worth it.
If it's cost-effective, you could also use a second IFA occasionally as a second opinion - 'what do you reckon about this portfolio?'. It's a bit like taking your car in for its MOT - you hope regular servicing you gave it means it's safe to drive, but it's good to have it confirmed.
For those who know about investments (or buildings or cars) we can be our own second opinion, but if you don't it can be worth asking an unbiased third party.0
