Overpriced Accommodation - Teletext

Hi,

I've just returned from 4 days in the sunny Algarve.

As part of my booking I was booked into an accommodation that according to my cost breakdown from teletext cost £521.45 (for 3 nights stay)

Having looked at the same accomodation on booking.com the advertised rate for an identical 3 night stay is £130 - which is considerably cheaper...

In addition the accommodation we stayed at was visibly off-season, offering a much reduced service which again did not justify the huge cost spent on this accommodation.

On this, I feel very ripped off by teletext holidays, to the point where I feel the telephone operator mis-sold me - the question is, is there anything I can do about it? If so, can anybody suggest how best to pursue?

Many thanks

So you checked booking.com after you returned? So I presume this is for different dates?

Even if not the case, no you would not be entitled to any refund. You agreed to the price for the 3 nights and they provided the 3 nights.
If you look on trivago, you can see lots of companies sell the same rooms at different prices, this doesn't mean you can complain every time (well you can, but it would be a waste of your time).

Perhaps, if you had seen the difference in price within a short period of time, some companies agree to match others.

Always good to shop around before buying and then not check again as prices seem to change all the time for holiday booking e.g, flights and accommodation depending on how many have been sold.

Of course there isn't, you agreed to the price. Next time compare prices *before* booking.
  • Hi,

I was actually never informed of the accommodation cost - just given a grand total inc. flights. I must point out that I received a cheaper price on the teletext website, and it was only when I rang to call centre to book did the cost jump higher, based on flight changes organised by the operator.

It was only when I received the paperwork after booking did I notice the flights were cheaper than thought, and it was the cost of the accommodation that drove the premium price.

Needless to say though as pointed out I did choose to book, and so I will accept the cost. Thank you for your replies.
