Working at ASDA - need urgent advice maternity leave

So I'm 33 weeks pregnant, haven't had a single risk assessment since I told them around 10 weeks.
They've had my matb1 since I was 28 weeks.
My last shift is Saturday 11th April.
I work 14.5 contracted hours per week, occasionally do overtime when I'm available, I've received no information about my pay. I don't know whether to apply for maternity allowance. Asked my people manager about it and she looked at me puzzled?? She basically said I should get a letter but I'm leaving Saturday and I'm only going to get 2 weeks pay if I need to apply for maternity allowance - how will I pay my bills next month?
I just need some advice because I don't know who to speak to, I'm just fed up chasing people and getting no answers
Could do without the stress!
Thanks in advance to anyone willing to help or tell me their experiences!

    How much do you earn?
    Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP)
To qualify for SMP you must:

earn on average at least £112 a week
    give the correct notice
    give proof you’re pregnant
have worked for your employer continuously for at least 26 weeks up to the ‘qualifying week’ - the 15th week before the expected week of childbirth
Work out your qualifying week using the maternity pay calculator.

You can’t get SMP if you go into police custody during your maternity pay period. It won’t restart when you’re discharged.
People don't know what they want until you show them.

Not sure how M/A works but here's link for that to claim if not.

  • Well my contract is £100 per week but i sometimes do overtime and earn more than 112?
I gave notice at 10 weeks and matb1 at 28 weeks
I've worked there 2 years in July
I've no idea what I'm entitled to
  • Thanks for the link, I've already printed form incase I need it but when I asked people manger about smp1 she had no idea what it was, just said I'll receive a letter but I've got no idea when :(

Dont you have an HR department that you could call? They are ultimately responsible to arrange things I believe.

In that case it's based on an average, you would need to work out what you've earned over last year and divide it by 52 weeks, if it's over £112 then you would get something but it sounds like you have already enquired and they have already told you that you are not entitled to anything?

You really need to talk to HR or ring the number on the above link if you are unsure still.

  • Well my people manager said I probably won't get SMP but hasnt given me any other info. she said she phoned ceridian (payroll) but they haven't told her anything - waiting on news. However, the way my store works, I don't know if I believe she's actually tried calling! I don't know if I can call them myself or if there's a number I can call to help? I've read I was meant to receive maternity handbook but I've had nothing, I've pestered for risk assessments but it's always "when it's not busy" ..
  • I've earned 6181 over last year divided by 52 is 118 per week.
I'm not fussed if it's SMP or MA I'll receive, long as Im not expected to receive no pay for 9 months. Obv way things are going it will probably be easier if it's SMP as I don't have to wait 2 weeks for job centre to make a decision

Your union rep will be able to help you sort this (if you are a member).

... I don't know who to speak to...

The obvious answer is your union. I know WalMart are not keen on unions but this is the UK and ASDA can't stop you joining one - USDAW for instance.
