Went to local high street retailer to look at watches for a birthday present. Waited at Jewellery counter for 5 minutes before someone came over and said I had to go to the tills. So joined the long queue to wait my turn. When I got to the tills I said I only want to view some watches, and was told sorry we are too busy - I could only buy the watches and then return any I dont want!!!!
So guess how many I bought !!!!!!

I would have queried why they said I had to go to the tills when I only wanted to look at watches.
Surely you only go to the tills to pay, not to look and decide.
If they had insisted I still go, I would have left the shop.
What was the shop?0 -
Yes you are correct. It was Argos!!!!0

Well either go elsewhere, a local jewellers, H Samuels etc. or go back to Argos when it is quieter.
BTW I never understand why so many people don't use the self-service machines to pay for their goods. They seem happy to wait in a queue to pay and then wait again to pick up their items.0 -

That's what I always do - normally reserve online before hand as well. gets me out of there as quickly as possible!0 -
That's what I normally do, but needed to check the strap length before purchasing. Might try again early next week when they may be quieter.0

I went to pick something mid Dec after reserving online. Walked straight to a self service point and picked my item 3 mins later.
Meanwhile the queue for the tills had at least two dozen customers. As that time of year, more customers are buying more than one item. Plus the assistants are trying to upsell insurance and/or the credit card too.0
