Capital One application- still waiting for decision.

Hello all,
Applied for a Capital one platinum CC to enable me to do a balance transfer of £1000.
This was mid-way through July & have not heard a thing from them yet about the decision...I applied on-line and it said it couldn't make an immediate decision but I would hear within a week.

Anyhow, have called up & the message says that anyone applying within the last 21 days will have to wait til they 'get in touch soon'.

Just wondered if anyone has applied for this CC for a balance transfer in the last month or so & been successful?
Bit annoying as I really have to wait to hear what they have to say before trying to apply for an alternative (my credit record/report is fine so I don't anticipate problems in this respect).
This seems to be a regular thing- their offers are so successful that so many people apply (unsurprisingly) and it all takes such a long time to process!
Thanks a lot, Chick

I applied online mid-June and got an immediate decision, though I had to telephone Cap One afterwards for confirmation of my credit limit.
The whole process - application & balance transfer - took around 3 weeks.

As you say, C1 is probably inundated with applications. IME, it's best to allow 5-6 weeks, especially when the deal is heavily advertised.

    Hope this helps.

They are quite slow and unfortunatley this can result in a delay for balance transfers giving you less time @ 0%. I would give them a call, ignore the message about 21 days and ask them to hurry things along for you.

Don't forget there was a postal strike recently, maybe the letter is lost somewhere.

    Hi there,
Thanks for the replies, just wanted to get an idea of average time for it to go through...obviously it's all in the timing with getting balances transferred etc, I suppose it will probably take more time than you think!

    Thanks
