Praise for Thomson holidays

Options
Hi all,

I'm always moaning when something goes wrong so thought I'd better praise where it's due.

Hubby and I booked a cruise for late Aug with Thomson. Then found out I'm pregnant. Looked at the pregnancy t's and c's and see I cannot sail after 24 weeks (I would have been 35 weeks on last day of hol.)

Work out latest date I can sail and ring them to change booking and pay amendment fee. Unfortunately they had no cabins available suitable for a cot. I was told I cannot transfer to a Thomson holiday as the cruise business is separate. So our only option was to lose our £400 deposit.

Although I completely accepted that was our fault I thought it was worth one last try, so for the sake of a bit of time and a 60p stamp I decided to write them a "begging" letter. I explained we had been on two previous hols, we were happy to change our booking but there were no cabins available, so could we either transfer to a Thomson hol or bank our deposit to rebook a cruise next year?

Two days later I received a phone call saying we could "hold" our £400 deposit, just rebook a holiday in the next 12 months (just book, not travel during this time frame) and contact a certain email address and they'll transfer the money to the new booking.

I booked our alternative holiday on the website, (same week, just a hol not a cruise) and emailed them the new booking reference and they'd credited us the £400 within hours!

I'm very pleased with the customer service and it was very nice of them. They could have strictly stuck to their t's and c's.
I'm never offended by debate & opinions. As a wise man called Voltaire once said, "I disagree with what you say, but will defend until death your right to say it."
Mortgage is my only debt - Original mortgage - January 2008 = £88,400, March 2014 = £47,000 Chipping away slowly! Now saving to move.
