Currys faulty goods policy

I bought a new computer the scroll button did not work properly and touch pad developed a fault on returning to Currys after only 35 days they only offered a repair. They insisted this was their policy and that they not obliged to offer a replacement or refund but were within their rights to repair only after their 21 day general offer. Please be aware if this not sure if that us legal or not

Yes, they were acting within their rights.0 -
There has been a update in widows 8 that causes a glitchy touchpad, it doesn't affect every laptop but I've seen a lot of them. I'm still trying to find a pattern to see if it's a driver conflict or a conflict with other software installed.
Chances are that's what's happened to yours so not an actual fault just a software glitch.0 -
Off-topic ... I wonder if my daughter's touchscreen laptop fell foul of the same issue? (The screen would randomly go through a phase of pseudo-touches on the screen - like someone was pressing the screen even though it wasn't being done. I did a factory restore - after backing up data - and all seemed to work correctly again).
So thanks for the heads-up - I hadn't heard about that.0 -
I've seen that a few times too and I think it is linked to the touchpad issue, just less common as there are less touchscreen models around.
I'd love to spend some decent time finding the actual cause of the problem but my customers understandably want their laptops back ASAP so I don't really get the time to fully look into it. I have started to keep a record of some of the laptops info just to see if I can find the pattern though. Every single person has said the problem started within 24 hours of a windows update but it doesn't seem to be the same update causing it for everyone.
A system restore fixes it sometimes but a factory wipe fixes it every time. I do also check for bios updates as standard for all computers and Toshiba actually say one of their bios updates fixes a common touchpad issue on certain models.0
