Green Deal? Oil or biomass?

Hello

I have a large second home which is not lived in most of the year, so it isn't heated much, but when it is it does need a lot of heating and as there are a number of people normally staying there is the need for lots of hot water. It is heated with oil as it's off the gas grid.

The boiler is old and it might be leaking co2. The engineer who serviced it recently said when it is replaced the flue is in the wrong place and I will need to get some work done to move it. The oil tank is rusting and needs to be replaced. And now the hot water cylinder is playing up and not heating water as it used to.

My two questions are

1. If and when the boiler needs to be replaced might I qualify for the Green Deal? How might it work?

2. Bearing in mind that the oil tank will need to be replaced soon, as well as the boiler, would I be better looking at other, renewable fuels, like biomass wood pellets?

Thanks in advance for any help

I think you mean leaking CO, not CO2-we all leak that every time we breathe. If it is leaking CO within the house then the engineer should have disconnected it on the spot.
Green Deal is a loan scheme, not a grant. No one can tell you if you qualify without an assessment. Info here:

However if the property is only occupied a few weeks of the year then I doubt if you'd qualify, as the savings may within the loan period might not match the loan.
At a min 7% pa, it's an expensive way to finance improvements if you have alternate finance.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Thanks, and I'm clearly a bit stupid when it comes to such matters and I need to get someone to look at my boiler right away
