Rights With Faulty Vax & Argos

Much the same as Argos said to me a couple of years ago .
As I understand the law regarding sale of goods and knowing that Argos are not a repairer and would only send the unit away i went the Vax route . A quick phone call and i had a brand new unit two days later .
Only a quick phone call did not happen, it took 45 minutes for someone to answer the phone at Vax CS, only then I was cut off 2 minutes into the call... that is a prime example of poor customer service, what do Vax have one member of staff answering all calls! Not had that with Dyson CS!0 -

That would have proved that it was faulty, not that it was inherently faulty. There is a difference. It could be faulty because you dropped it down the stairs, sucked up a toy which broke off pieces inside the machine etc, etc ...... In which case neither Argos or Vax would have been liable to assist you in any way. An inherent fault is one which was present at the time of sale but which may not have been evident at that time. As has already been stated, the onus was on you alone to prove that it was inherently faulty. That Argos accepted liability without proof is to their credit.0 -

So it sounds like your complaint is really with Vax's customer service...?0 -
I had a Vax steam cleaner only 6 to 8 weeks old that developed a fault. Vax were a pain in the bum, do this and do that and when you have call us back and we will send you a replacement. Did what they said, called back and got told now do this, now do that and call us back. And so on... I took it back to Currys who were difficult about it. I didn't mind it being repaired or replaced by Vax as long as Currys called them to arranged not me - I didn't have time to keep calling and being fobbed off.
Currys agreed and they called me about a week later to say a replacement had been sent to store. Except that it was a lesser model, Currys response was well if that is what Vax have sent you then tough (not those words but words to that effect). Not happy as I paid for a better model, again had to persuade Currys to deal with it and they decided to swap it for one in store.
Vax are a pain and it has put me off buying another Vax.0 -

Don't bother - husband reckons it was a couple of hundred pounds well and truly wasted. Fails to pick stuff up, runs out of power in no time and takes an age to charge.0 -
I wouldn't buy another cordless Dyson either. The charge doesn't last and it doesn't pick up very well. There are better cheaper cordless vacs about.0
