Hi All, sorry this is my 1st post on these boards so I hope this is the right place...
Anyway just trying to help my girlfriend out with her student loan for her going back to college next month. Basically she did not complete a course a few years ago, and was still paid student loans which she naively spent (whoopsy) which she has been paying back in installments ever since. She now has about £1.5k left to pay, but we just got the letter back from the SAAS now that she is going back to college and they have deducted this amount from the new loan that she has been granted.
Our problem is that this is a huge chunk of her loan, money she needs for rent etc, so my question is, is it worth calling these folk and asking if they could come to some sort of compromise? Can this happen? Basically she was paying it £25 a month before, but now its like shes paying it back at a rate of £120pm. It seems fair in one respect, but in others it is leaving her struggling in her new course?
Any ideas on how we could play this one would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks:o
