She WOULD be able to register for the savings to be not taxed at source, if her total income is less than £15600.
I realise this on rereading the documents. Not being able to register applies if the total, including savings, comes over £15600, but income other than from savings is below this amount; only some of the savings being tax free.0 -
Some folk seem to be a bit confused about being a tax-payer and submitting an R85. Statements like
"The tax allowance is £10600 now but you can have up to £15600 tax free if total income is up to this amount."
are just not right.
This is correct as the word 'can' and not 'will' is used. A non-savings income of £10.600 and £5000 interest from savings, though an unlikely scenario, is possible.0 -

And I, on purpose, didn't say it was incorrect!
Let's agree that your statement "would not apply to the great majority of circumstances".
Including the OP's mother.0 -
And I, on purpose, didn't say it was incorrect!.......
not right = wrong = incorrect; can you explain where my logic falls over please?
I'm unsure if you're being disingenuous, pedantic, or something completely different and innocuous?

Possibly pedantic - something of a crime in some eyes, nowadays, eh?.Maybe just more familiar with the nuances of our language where it is quite unusual to find three words which have exactly the same import.
If I post that it is quite easy to stop a bus by standing in front of it and stretching your arms out straight towards the bus - but I omit to point out that to survive you need to do this on a road which has a 1 in 10 gradient with the bus going up it - and that it is necessary that the bus be taken out of gear early enough to have reduced its speed to 2mph at the point that it meets your outstretched hands - then I am correct, but was I right to post what I posted?
Still don't get it? How about a critique of the bulk of my posting, then? I'd seriously welcome criticism - particularly if I've accidentally prompted a bus-crash by omission of vital detail.0 -
thanks - it's all as irrelevant as I first thought.
