Dear all
I would like to buy a DAB and Internet radio that I can also play audio from my tablet and phone.
I've seen a few bluetooth ones which would address this. But I've also seen non bluetooth units that mention streaming through WiFi from a computer.
Does the latter require a media server or could anything on the WiFi play directly?
Thanks
S

Streaming through WiFi from a computer means the radio connects to the wifi signal and the sound is projected to the speaker/s.
Do you have a link to 1 you have seen ?0 -
I've got this wifi/dab/fm radio - Pure One Flow. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pure-Portable-Streaming-Digital-Internet/dp/B004E9SLOK
I've got an android phone, and it lets me run the Pure Connect app that finds music on your phone and streams it to the radio (over wifi). There's no need for a separate music server.
If you do happen to have a music server (e.g. a DLNA enabled NAS) then you can directly access it via the radio itself, without an app (But you can also use the app too to browse the NAS and stream to the radio)
It is a very good little unit; it's a shame it doesn't also have bluetooth though; but it's not the end of the world0 -
I've got a couple of DAB Internet radios.
A Pure Evoke Flow.

And a Roberts iStream 930.

Both are excellent with great sound. Once set up both are easy to use but the Roberts was easier as it has a slightly more friendly menu system. One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -
I've just built one with a Raspberry Pi, for the sole purpose of listening to the 320kbps AAC streams of BBC radio. Cost about fifty quid in parts.0

Or for £29 and no self assembly involved you can get an audio WiFi receiver for your amp http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00O0U37HO/:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

I listen to catch-up radio a lot more nowadays. For this I use a £25 Azatom Droid with excellent sound. Internet radios can't access catch up content conveniently and risk becoming obsolete when broadcasters switch their stream technologies like the BBC did over the last few weeks.
Consider a bluetooth DAB radio instead and use with a phone, eg a £60 John Lewis one http://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-spectrum-duo-dab-fm-bluetooth-nfc-digital-radio0 -
I must say that in all honesty, I tend to mainly use my internet/dab radio for its DAB capabilities. Thankfully it's a lot better than my 'first-generation DAB radio'
There's quite enough DAB stations that I don't ever look at the internet stations.0 -
Thanks all.
I've seen a Revo that appeals.
We have a very poor DAB signal here and listening to Radio 4 Extra on my phone isn't Ideal!0 -
I don't know if this might fulfil what you want.. http://www.richersounds.com/product/streaming-hi-fi-and-network-audio-players/qed/uplay-stream/qed-u-play-stream#inline
Admittedly, it'll need an existing hifi to plug into but it's pretty cheap for what it does.0
