Ambrose Wilson (JD Williams) personal account protection

I've read the sticky and still can't find what I'm looking for, so I'm hoping someone can help me!
My mum is in a difficult financial situation. I spoke to a creditor of hers, Ambrose Wilson, who she owes £500 to. Turns out she has personal account protection, costing £10 a month. She says she had no idea she had it or of what benefit it is to her. She's retired and receives a pension.
Am I able to help her claim these costs back? We want to get the account paid off and closed but need to explore first whether she has been missold PPI.
Thank you.

It's a mixture of insurance (against theft, fire and accidental damage) and a sort of ppi based on their website - just google the product name. Why do you feel she was miss-sold and what evidence do you have to support this?

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Yes i looked it up but not really sure why she needs it...theres two products and i cant see how she would benefit. She is very vulnerable and would not understand what she was signing up for - however she doesnt actually remember being asked if she wanted it and how it works.0

All you need to do is get authorisation from the account holder to deal with the account and start the process for a mis-sell if you think that's what's happened.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -

Purely devil's advocate view here (though one the company will take) -
If she was vulnerable why did she sign up for a credit account with the company instead of paying cash for something she needed? Do you feel she was pressured into buying a product she didn't want or did she buy the product willingly without a repayment plan in place?
Why did she go alone to the shop/buy online without asking for help if she was unsure or worried about people signing her up for things?
She's an adult and has taken on credit she can't afford - if she is struggling to pay, instead of trying to complain about the cover why not make a retrospective claim on it? It's there to help if you can't make payments and you might get more back than saying she didn't want it (and the company will have records showing she agreed to it if the sale was in the last few years).Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
