2 PC Monitor Switch

Anyone any experience of a decent Monitor Switch for 2 PCs with 1 monitor please. Maplins do one for £11.99 but state that there will be some signal loss. Also how would wireless KB and mouse work?

Switches such as these rely on mechanical parts inside which over time can degrade due to repeated usuage or oxidation of contacts. You won't be able to get away from this unless you pay a lot for an electronic switch. I doubt any home user would fork out for one of them.

Lets just to say after a couple of years (based on the switch being a good brand), you may notice a poorer image on your monitor. At this point you may need to buy a new switch.

As for how does wireless keyboards work? Do you mean in terms of switches so you can use one wireless keyboard for 2 PCs ... or how do they work and set up generally?

    Cheers

I'm assuming you want to use the same wireless KB and mouse on both computers, the only way you could really do this would be to either get a second receiver or swap the reciever over depending on which computer you are using. If you want both on at the same time and be able to switch between the two pc's your best option is to get a second receiver.

There may be other ways of doing it, but as far as i know that is the only way.

    I use a belkin KVM - which I got from aria.co.uk

for wireless surely they come with usb recievers usually (bearing in mind I've NEVER owned a wireless mouse as battery time would be too short for me) - use a usb/ps2 adapter and plug that into the kvm as normal :)

I have a D-link KVM switch which I use 30-40 times a day every day for 4 years now, no problems at all. Although I wouldn't use d-link stuff any more as they after sales service is none excistance. I would go for a Belkin.

No longer a user, goodbye folks. PLEASE delete my account. Thank you

You can get switches that swap both keyboard and mouse (PS2) at exactly the same time as the monitor is changed from 1 PC to the other !

In a wireless case you would plug the receiver into the switch !
