Mundole residents feel they live in a 'no-star' park
RESIDENTS living on the Riverview Park at Mundole, say they feel extremely frustrated that new owners, Richmond-Whyte are bringing part of the site up to five-star status, but haven’t addressed long-standing problems with basic amenities of mobile homes located nearby.
Riverview park residents want the owners to address their concerns while upgrading the site.
Secretary of the Mundole Residents Association, Mrs Kay Fielding delivered a letter last week outlining concerns, claiming previous letters have received no reply.
She said that about 75% of permanent residents living at Spring Bank, Beech Avenue, Oak Grove, Rowan Crescent and Rowan Road belong to the association and are unhappy.
"We feel like we are living on a no-star status facilty," she said. "Never mind second class citizens, we have been treated worse than that."
A spokesperson for managing director Chek Whyte of Richmond Whyte said having only owned the park for a short time, they are addressing residents’ problems, but everything takes time.
The park was bankrupt and extremely run down when it was bought, so pre-existing problems experienced by Mrs Fielding and the other residents living on the edge of the site, have taken time to address by the new owners.
"We are very sorry that some of the existing residents at Riverview are unhappy about the current schedule of works at the park," said Mr Whyte. "We do take their concerns seriously.
"The problem is that they are not business people and do not understand the realities of business, of creating sustainability at a park which has formerly been in administration three times, and the realities of development at such a park."
The company is currently upgrading their main touring site, and has installed brand-new luxury chalet properties, on a new area of the site, spending £500,000 on the improvements. They also have plans to develop a leisure centre, and install more community-type facilities at the park, which they say will benefit everyone.
"We are spending a great deal of money at Riverview for their betterment and to create a profitable park with a real future - which has the profit reinvested back into the park," he added.
"We would ask them to bear with us to complete the schedule of work and achieve our desired 5 star rating."
Meanwhile, the residents association, who held a meeting last week, have complained to Moray Council and MP Angus Robertson about ongoing issues such as sewage problems, lack of street lighting, poor roads, electricity failures and old dumped caravans and piles of rubbish and logs which litter the site.
Mrs Fielding said that permanent residents were extremely frustrated and with no nominated person to speak to on site, they feel isolated, and even more disappointed that despite informing the local authority and parliamentary and council representatives, that issues remain unresolved.
But she said the residents association remain hopeful that their problems will addressed. Forres Gazette.
