French Air Traffic Controllers Strike Confirmed for Wed, 8th & Thurs, 9th April

French air-traffic controllers with the SNCTA union are to hold nine full days of strike - starting with a 48-hour stoppage from Wednesday and with the last day on May 2nd.
Controllers have had long-running disputes over everything from pensions to workloads. The union is the biggest in the industry, and has 41 percent of France's 4,000 air traffic controllers as members.
They will strike from Wednesday to Thursday, then again from Thursday the 16th of April to the 18th, then once again from the 29th of April to the 2nd of May.
The French Civil Aviation Authority has asked airlines to reduce their number of flights by 40 percent on Wednesday.
The Local
The hardest-hit will be Air France, based at Paris Charles de Gaulle airport, but, of course, a large number of other flights from the UK travel over French air traffic control territory. Some may be able to take alternative courses around France, but there are expected to be a number of cancellations.
As always in these situations, check with your airline.

British Airways have just posted the following on their website HERE:
Air Traffic Control strike in France – 8th and 9th April, 2015
Updated 07/04/2015 03.12 PM (UK time)
British Airways has been informed that air traffic controllers across France are threatening to hold industrial action on Wednesday 8 April and Thursday 9 April, 2015.
As a result, the French Civil Aviation Authority (DGAC) has mandated the cancellation of a number of flights for all airlines using French airspace.
Unfortunately in addition to cancelling some flights to and from France, other short-haul flights are also likely to experience significant delays throughout the two days, given how many flights would normally use French airspace.
We will be using larger aircraft, where possible, to help affected customers and are doing all we can to reduce any disruption.
We will continuously review the situation on Wednesday 8 April and will look to publish our revised schedule for Thursday 9 April, during Wednesday afternoon.
Although the industrial action in France is beyond our control and will affect all airlines, we apologise for any disruption to your travel plans.
Check the status of your flight
Please check the status of your flight before leaving for the airport.

You can also check your flight status on your mobile phone by visiting ba2go.com.
We are sorry for the inconvenience caused.
What to do if your flight on Wednesday 8 April or Thursday April 9 has been cancelled
If your flight has been cancelled, please do not travel to the airport. We have a policy in place outlining the options available to you and how to make changes to your booking.
