Green deal wall insulation...

I generally add a codicil that says something like """its your money - you decide - go for it""" The truth of the matter seems to be :When or if l sell the house I might even add a bit to the asking price pay what's left on the insulation loan and everyone's happy and none the wiser...
It seems to be / me that the O/P's calculation is that they can get their hands on fifteen thousand pounds of someone else's money. Wait a few years, then add a couple of extra thousand pounds to the then market rate for the property. They then [declared above] sell the illusion of a 'good deal' to any idiot who will buy the property plus the debt plus the [above] additional unearned markup - and run.
Sadly the whole Paul Daniels loan market for this money is predicated on the poor who have no money, or can not get credit in their own right because of a poor credit score. If they did have money or were able to access finance in their own name they would certainly not have agreed to pay double the going rate for the finance in addition to the inflated EWI costs.
So I amend the codicil to say """its not your money - you have already decided you are never going to have to repay it - go for it"""
NOTE : The golden rule is to be met only “on average”, in some cases energy bill savings might not cover the cost of the Green Deal measures and plan.....add to that the inflated EWI install cost and the more than double finance costs. Go for it stingray 316.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. I try to be an even-handed poster and accept that you at times may not agree with these opinions or how I choose to express them, this is not my problem. Can I ask you to be really careful with this stingray 316? How much do you currently spend on your fuel bills? Is the EWI all the way around the house? How much is it likely to save you? I had BG to look at our house last year they suggested our saving with EWI would be around £150 a year on a £1100 annual spend.
You could end up paying more in repayments than you save in fuel.
For years.
After thinking about it last night I remembered it was just savings on £700 - the heating part of our fuel bill - which would work out about 20%.
Could you have the key meter removed? That would be cheaper.0 -
Apologies for jumping in on your thread..we are in the process of possibly having solid wall installation front and back on a very old house (1890s)!
Can i ask are you having to pay for the scaffolding yourself or does it come in with what is being quoted, we are at the stage where we have just received the assessment so very early on in the process.
will be following your thread to see how you are getting on.
