Kids on holidays in mid June

Hiya,

This might be a really silly question.. here goes...
I am going away in mid June to a warm destination in Europe which I am yet to book (probably Canary Islands, Turkey, Greece or Cyprus).

I don't like seeing loads of kids as prefer a more adult-like holiday, the question is.. can I expect most 4-5 hotels to have few families (ideally no kids at all) as I presume all the children will still be in schools.

Thanks in advance

P.S I presume kids from other countries have similar term dates? (I'm not a parent as you can probably tell...)

Unless you book an adults only hotel there will always be some kids. Babies and toddlers don't observe school holidays and other nationalities have longer breaks in the summer.

Go adults only and be sure!

Some European countries school holidays start mid June.

There are "adult only" hotels, or else book a hotel which only does double/twin rooms that sleep 2 max, ie not an apart-hotel type places, and you'll likely not get many kids.

Watch out for some "adult only" hotels which mainly cater for stag/hen do's. That would be far worse than kids (IMO anyway!)

You have to be thorough in your research before actually booking and double check all the details.

Madeira has a few hotels that appeal to couples.

Only an adults-only hotel will ensure you'll have a child-free holiday. As mentioned, pre-school children can go away anytime, as can the home-educated ones. Mid June you can also get the year 11's and year 13's who have finished their exams, and there'll always be the odd families who risk the fine and take their children out of school in term time.

Oh, and make sure it's an adults-only hotel, rather than just packaged as adults-only by your specific tour operator otherwise the hotelier may sell accommodation to families with children booking direct or via another operator.

Ireland and Scotland tend to break up mid June - and as previously noted other countries in Europe have a longer summer break than England.

Early June and five star would be your best bet ............but presumably you want it cheap as well as child free !!! :D

Make sure you don't get travel insurance with an "under the influence" exclusion (a lot have it buried in the small print)

Maybe an 18-30 type resort like San Antonio would suit you better.

No kids just lots of late teens and early twenties getting off their faces every night.

Personally I'd take my chances with a few kids around than endure that but each to their own.
All inclusive is likely to attract more families than B&B places -but unless you book your own villa there's no guarantees the odd child won't slip through the net.
