I have a problem with the front USB 3 ports on my PC
They are dead - I have checked that they are physically connected to the MoBo and have used the correct drivers from Medion - and they appear to be "live" in the device manager - all enabled (No red crosses on any of the USB ports) - but are dead as a dodo....
Any suggestions ?

Have you looked in the BIOS for any settings regarding the ports? Usually you press Del or F1 when first turned on to access the BIOSChanging the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

Thanks - I have plugged my USB adapter in and connected to my router at 74Mbps using USB 3 rather than 23Mbps on USB 2 !!0 -
I am thinking of adding USB3 and a card reader to my Win7 Vostro desktop.
Would this do http://www.amazon.co.uk/ESATA-Display-Muiti-function-Media-Dashboard/dp/B00JKCDZTC/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1428329463&sr=8-7&keywords=esata+front+panel or are there better alternatives?0 -

Not unless you already have USB3, all these do is connect to headers on your motherboard, if the board only does USB2 then you'd need a USB3 card.0 -
Is there any limit to the number of USB 3 ports that you are allowed on a PC ?
ie) I have 2 * USB 3, on the front and 4 * USB 2 - on the rear - is there anything to stop me adding another 4 USB 3 on the rear - (using a card) ?
(64bit Win 7)0 -
was there not a set limit when it was designed , think it was 128 devices connected at once? (might be wrong)
I have used an "Alaska" ft mounted device to add 4 extra ports to the front of mine , however this is fed from one of my rear ports0 -
Yes but by adding a card you are also adding the controller to handle the extra portsThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
