car accident damaging house-insurance??

Options
Hi

At 5am on Saturday morning there was a car that crashed at 100mph into our dry stone wall and smash our front windows and basically caused a lot of damage to the outside garden and also some of our things inside were damaged for example we will have to throw our rug out as we will never get all the glass out and we had a lot of items in our porch which took a major hit from bricks.

my question is are we covered for some our damaged items inside the house from the drivers insurance (the was arrested and has car insurance). we rent so the landlord will be dealing with the insurance etc and dealing with the outside of the house but what about our possessions?

Thanks
Roxy

100 mph? How are you sure it was that speed? Is the driver still alive? Take lots of photo evidence and put in a claim to their insurer.

The driver's insurer will probably pay indemnity value (i.e. what it was worth) rather than new for old replacement.

So you may do better to use you own insurance in the first instance.

Why 100mph? Because that's what the police reckoned and they are still alive only because they hit the wall sideways.

Why do u have to question information?....

Why did you feel the need to add it?
It makes no difference to your query.

I guess there was no need to add it, but it could indicate that it caused alot of damage that not only damaged the outside of the house but also inside, to our possessions.

Your contents insurance would cover any damaged items.
