I'm in the market for a safe, either grade 1 or grade 2. Do content insurers actually reduce your premium? What are people's experience?

What if they steal the safe?
What you should do is buy a safe and leave it empty...We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Yes I have thought about that, and that is always possible, its about delaying the game. That's not the question here.Student loan: Cleared.0

To answer your question; I've no idea I'm afraid...
I thought about buying a safe myself, just as a diversion though....
leave it in a cupboard or under your bed but not bolted to the floor, the thief would most likely be off with the safe as soon as they saw it and it's when they get it home they see it's filled with some stainless steel jewellery and a bag of flour....
can't help you with the insurance question I'm afraid, but more knowledgeable people will be along shortly I'm sure....We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
A safe does reduce the contents insurance premiums, but by so little we worked out it would take the best part of 10 years for the savings to pay for a safe that meets insurance company required standard the reduction was so minimal.0

I have a "fireproof" safe, hangover from when I developed computer systems at home. Have never seen a mention for mainstream insurance, but I don't have any high-value contents. Worth it to me for parking my NAS drive, laptop, and various bits of paper though.0

Had never thought of protecting a NAS drive in this way - thanks.Student loan: Cleared.0 -

10 years - still a saving. In my case, a bonus. I'm more interested in just making it difficult if the worst happened and curious if there is a premium saving. There's always the fake baked bean can from Argos.Student loan: Cleared.0 -
How are you going to get all your possessions into the safe?
Won't it be a nuisance having to open it to retrieve your PC, TV, HiFi, bicycle, etc everytime you want them? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
It's less about reduced premiums and more about the Insurer's requirement where you have high risk valuables such as watches and jewellery. In my case, we were told that the items wouldn't be covered unless they were in the safe when not being worn.
They insisted on the safe being "cash rated" up to £20k.0 -
