Hi I know in England & Wales its 6 years but when reading the nationaldebtline.org site and inputting scotland it says that the Prescription and Limitation (Scotland) Act 1973 it's 5 years for them to pursue the debt.
I know that the credit reports remove them after 6 years but then what does the 5 year rule mean
Could someone clear this up please ?
Thanks

How long until time barred and how long things stay on credit reports are two separate things.
Just happens that from convention they are both 6 years in England.
No more significance that that.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

So can I ask in regard to the five years in Scotland from what you are saying is that after five years they can't come after you for the debt as its time barred, but it stays on your credit file for six years ?0
