Yellow stickers and online earnings

Hi everyone

Over the past few weeks I have been actively trying to reduce my grocery bill by shopping for reduced yellow sticker items. I've made some fantastic savings.

I've also been joining all the cashback sites and doing surveys etc on line to make a few extra pounds and I'm really excited about what can be achieved.

I decided to start a thread on here to record my savings and the money that I make. Hoping this will motivate me to keep it up.

Would love to share similar experiences with others on here :)

    Luckily I have kept all my shopping receipts for the past month so I have been able to work out what I've saved on yellow stickered items. Since the 1st March I have bought a total of £140.03 worth of groceries that had yellow stickers. For these I have only paid £56.52 which has given me a massive saving of £83.51 !!

    I also received a cheque for £25 from an online survey site and bought 2 coffees at a well known coffee shop (it was my turn to pay) using loyalty points saving a further £4.90. In addition I have received £18 of vouchers from Mr M to use off my shopping and have generated a further £5 voucher using their match & more scheme.

    In summary March savings were :-

    Yellow sticker items :-
    Full price cost = £102.49
    YS cost = £49.91
    Savings = £52.58 or (52%)

    Cash or vouchers received :-
    £25 cheque from survey site
    £4.90 in points from coffee shop
    Total = £29.90

    April savings to date :-

    Yellow sticker items :-
    Full price cost = £37.54
    YS cost = £6.61
    Savings = £30.93 or (82%) :T

    Cash or vouchers received :-
    £18 supermarket vouchers from Mr M
    £5 supermarket voucher from match and more
    Total = £23

    Grand total to date:-

    Yellow sticker items :-
    Full price cost = £140.03
    YS cost = £56.52
    Savings = £83.51 or (60%)

    I became addicted to yellow stickers items when working late night shifts as a locum pharmacist in Sainsburys.

    I think you have to be dedicated as it is too easy to get carried away and pick up things you don't really need or will ever eat because it is such a "bargain"!!!!!

    I ended up having to buy a chest freezer in the garage to keep it all in!

    I can see exactly how that can happen! :)
    My freezer is packed full already. Could probably live for months off our 'stockpiles' !! That's going to be another challenge for the next month ..... to reduce significantly what we already have. On holiday from work this week so going to do some serious meal planning

    Hello. I am a keen yellow stickerer, live off them most of the time. I did an experiment once, keeping track of all the food I bought over a three month period. It worked out that I could live on £10 - £15's worth a week. I also make a point of popping in smaller supermarkets as I am passing, after around 4pm. Co op, small Tesco, and Spar. Some orange stickers there to be had. I call it cherry picking.

    If I am finding a lot reduced to pennies on a late Tesco shop, I take a few extras and give them to my neighbours. It's worth the effort to get your bum off the sofa at 7pm and go to a big supermarket if it isn't too far away. 4.5 miles is my nearest. Good luck with your hunting.

    That's a very good point that you need to know the best times to go. I should go right now actually as our Mr T's usually has some very good Sunday bargains but they will have all gone soon as the store shuts at 4.00 today.

    I particularly like getting 10p loaves of bread:j:j

    Didn't manage a 10p loaf today but got a nice one for 47p:j Also a pack of 2 chocolate cupcakes for 19p instead of 75p and a pot of double cream for 35p instead of 60p. Also used a coupon for 25 extra points on a small carton of wine. A few nice treats there and also got cornflakes, spag bol, a 4pint milk, yoghurt a tv listings mag, and the whole bill was £4.96:T:T:T:T
