Non-standard insurance - Maisonette?

Hi,
sorry if this has already been asked!
We've just bought a 2 bed maisonette and need to get buildings insurance only. I've tried the usual websites, confused.com etc and got quotes, but most of the big names won't insure us as there are more than 4 units in a block.
Does anyone know any sites like confused.com or moneysupermarket that include non-standard companies that would insure me? Otherwise I'm ringing them up individually and I'm not even sure what are the best companies?!
Any advice would be great!
thanks
Sue

we are in a similar situ to you. We are in a detached house which is split into 2 flats.
You may need to speak to the freeholder of the building and ask for his assistance. The freeholder of the building we live in (who happens to live in the flat above us) has taken out the buildings insurance for both flats but we pay separately (if that makes sense). If you like I can dig out the paperwork and give you the phone number? Just PM me if so.
I found that I couldn't get the buildings insurance quotes through the usual insurance companies.
Plus the insurance company requests that they speak with the freeholder to confirm (well they did with ours).0 -
I tried a few websites for quotes. A chap from one has just rang me up and took all my details. I explained to him my problem. He did a search, rang me back and as come back with a good quote from a reputable company.
He said it would be fine with the maisonette issue. They have put them in as flats. Do you think I can trust this?0
