Will I be able to get statements for an old account with RBS?

Even an excel sheet or something? It's an RBS account that I'd like to take a look at some historic statements.

    Is the account still open?
Are you still with the bank?
How far back do you want to go?

I'm still with the bank, it's a closed account, and the beginning of time (2005ish)

You may be able to - but it may cost you - they may state that they do not hold statements further back than 10 years.
Do you have internet banking - is the old account showing there at all?

Natwest charges £3 for a print of a statement. (each statement?) Try a Subject Access Request under the Data Protection Act. That will cost £10 and it SHOULD give you ALL the information the bank holds about you.

You'll most likely have to do a Subject access request it'll be cheaper than paying for the individual statements.

You can send a cheque or postal order for £10.00 to:

    Royal Bank of Scotland
    Regulatory Risk
    2nd Floor, Business House B
    PO Box 1000
    Gogarburn
    Edinburgh

SAR is the way to go, but I would be surprised if it will provide data back to 2005 for a closed account (although it may depend on when it was closed).

Op needs to find out how far back they keep statements before wasting £10.
Another thing to consider is that any transactions that may be queried will be statute barred so is it worth pursuing?

On a closed account a search can be done back ten years. If you're lucky your branch may do it and print out the info you require for nothing.
