It's quite peverse how parents fight to get their kids out of school in this country while in others they're desperate to get them in!
And no, I'm not claiming missing 3 days of education will result in the OPs child failing everything before someone throws a hissy fit.0 -
How are you booking it? Sounds like you're not booking a package so what is it that's so much higher in price? Flights if anything are usually cheaper in the summer holidays than around half terms. When in the summer holidays are you looking, late August is off peak in most of Europe. You should easily be able to get something for £2k for 3 of you in the summer.0

So you're saying I pay my taxes and some school days they don't really bother teaching the little uns much at all?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
Well the easy way is Moto's suggestion - phone them in sick for 3 days which is what we did last year.
Otherwise the policy is dependant on the LEA. I think most allow 10 sessions (each session being half a day) to be missed before imposing fines, so you wouldn't exceed this. And even if they did get to the point of fining you, I think it's £60 per parent per day - so a total of £360.0 -
:rotfl:well they thought they could control the world's economy when the claimed to have abolished boom and bust!Probably
You mean that Labour believe that they have the power to control all flight, hotel etc costs throughout the world to force them to stay at a set level during our holiday periods? Delusions of grandeur on a massive scale!
Meanwhile back in the real world - only a mug books a package holiday in the UK school holidays. UK school holidays don't co-incide with the rest of of the world's (England and Scotland don't even co-incide!) so look at going somewhere where it's off peak locally but still in the UK school holidays. In Europe late August is usually a good time.
You can get bargain flights in the summer holidays too, particularly if you're going somewhere where the main traffic isn't holiday traffic (eg perhaps mainland rather than a med island).0 -
Fine doesn't kick in till 5 days so should be a problem. The futures bright the future is Ginger0
