This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine
Morning all,
Could not see a daily thread ? hope you are all having a good sleep in, not long been up myself got a wash on the go and another to follow after its quite a nice day here but the sky is looking dark over yonder so will hang it out for a while and keep an eye on it.
OH gone to the boot sale and I am sitting here with a cuppa so all peaceful, not going to do a lot today although I need to get easter eggs so I might nip to asda (about 15 mins away) to get some and some loo roll which they have on offer.
Dinner tonight will be more gala pie maybe with mash or some chips will see what we feel like.
Has anyone got one of those actifry things ? been thinking of getting one, I have really gone off oven chips and thought chips might be better in one of these.
Hester hope your eye is improving xx
Have good days all xx

Good morning everyone.
On the hop today...lots to do and then get off back down to Glasgow, where there will be lots more to do!
Cold, grey and dry here.
No breakfast, we'll stop at Loch Fyne for something. Tonight we're all going to a Chinese restaurant for a family meal together. :j
Skates on now.
Hope everyone has a good day.0 -
Morning :hello:
Hester I hope you recover quickly xx
Well, Scampi seems to like me againHe came over for belly rubs then sat next to me with his paw on my arm. He also ignored my calls to come away from the chicken fence, so I had to take his lead down the garden and walk him back him. All is back to normal

I had one of those political people at the door the other day, seemed nice enough but I think they expected some sort of standard answer to their questions. They were taken aback when I answered with my opinions on zero hour contracts, options for small businesses and ideas for our town centre (which has been left to get into a miserable mess). They had to leave to “catch up with my people” - who had wandered off down the road – and I didn't get a chance to talk about my thoughts on Gloucester's extremely high business rates (one of the hightest in the country, last time I checked) which is a killer for very small businesses who need a shop front in the centre of town. Nor did I get to tell them what I think we should do for bored teenagers who have nothing to do in the evenings but then people complain about them sitting on a bench in the local park. If they don't listen to people's answers, why ask the questions? They knocked on my door, not the other way round. And if they don't listen why they're trying to get your vote, there's no way they'll listen at any other time. Wonder if I've been put on some sort of blacklist now, entitled “Houses To Avoid”? :rotfl: :rotfl:
Another miserable day, weather-wise. The washing will have to be hung indoors. The house feels damp so I've opened a few windows, but it just seems to be letting more damp inWe need a bit of a breeze to blow through. I'm hoping to vacuum this morning, maybe I'll get two whole rooms done wthout poor Henry being attacked

I've finished Scampi's blanket, I need another project so will be googling for crochet images to see if anything catches my eye

Good Morning Everyone,
I hope that everyone is well.
Not sure what the weather is going to be today it looks like it might be a dull day.
I am planning on my usual Saturday chores list and hopefully DH and I can go to the shops after lunch. We need bulbs for the security lights, and lots of bird food and a few other bits and pieces.
We are supposed to be going to a family party tonight but we have decided to cry off as i have a chest infection and i am still feeling a bit rough.
Well i am off to kondo all the dry laundry and strip off the bed linen.
Hope everyone has a good day,
Regards:j0 -
Morning everyone,
Judi Glad you are ok.
tru Glad that Scampi is settling again.
Last day without chocolate:)
Hoping to tidy the house and get in a bit of food for tomorrow.
Thankfully the hot tank has been replaced and the damp floorboards and ceiling are drying out.
Have a lovely day and Happy Easter everyone.:)0 -
Morning all,
Tru i got blacklisted by the jehovah's witnesses for about 10 years. Not sure i am still blacklisted cause i havent seen anyone walking down my road for ages..... As youve noticed its all about saying the right things at the right time.
All is quiet with me. Hubby is moaning about a security light which isnt on the drawings/plans he has been given at work but someone has moaned that they need one.... so its back to the boss for him. "i'm not putting one in if i'm not getting paid for it" he moaned. Its an extra you see and every extra is priced seperately. The list of jobs is getting longer and because of the distance he is not coming home until its finished.
Youngest is in Doncaster with his lady love.... I just hope they make the same amount of noise as they did last weekend... though i very much doubt if they will.:rotfl:
Good news, i dont know if i told you my neighbour was having work done in his garden.... Well the dreaded 15ft privet hedge is no more!.. Hubby had to stand on the shed to trim it and our neighbour used a very long step ladder but its been cut down and a brand new fence panel has been put in its place. I am so pleased. For our neighbour who is in his 60s and for my husband who frightens me to death each time he climbs on the roof of the shed. Thats one job in the garden i wanted ticked off my 'to do' list. Anything to make life that little bit easier.
Onwards and forwards,
have a great day all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Hope you all have a lovely weekend and I get my ginger nut biscuits back on the menu tomorrow:):):)

Morning
Early posting for me, as later I am going out, one of my dearest friends is moving overseas next week and we are having a farewell for her. I am going to miss her, but know we will keep in touch and have already made plans to meet up this summer. DW and WM both been on, bedding now blowing in the wind, so will be lovely and fresh. For lunch i am going to make pea and ham soup, bought the bacon lardons on offer in Ald!, its my grandads recipe, always a winner. Dinner tonight will be HM curry, much tastier and cheaper than a takeaway and baking mad DD is going to make naans and maybe some bhajis.
DS is turning out to be very handy with DIY and has fixed washer on bathroom tap and put new headlight bulb in car, saved me quite a bit of money so said I will pay for his burger lunch when he goes out with his friends later in the week.
Thoughts to all, have a good day.Thoughts to all. Mrs D.

Please can anyone answer my questions on packing to move thread?Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...:D:D

Afternoon ((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))) if you need one.
Very late getting up this morning, so apart from a quick trip to Mr T's across the road, nothing done.
Flicks last night was excellent, we enjoyed the film very much. Will watch it again if it comes on TV.
DGD gave me a pair of trousers to alter yesterday, its taken me ages to undo the bottoms. I have to turn them up, she wants them for work on Tuesday.
34 years ago just about now my eldest daughter was getting married. The weather is very similar, cold and grey, I actually wore a fur jacket over my suit. Time flies when you are getting old!!
DD2 here for her lunch tomorrow, roast shoulder of lamb, I spikes it with garlic, will cut some reosemary to roast it on. Lamb is my favourite, especially the shoulder.
We have 2 settees in the sitting room just now, the old one is being collected on Thursday, I hope. fo the time being the other one is in the alcove under the stairs. I will be glad when the old one has gone and I can set the room to rights again.0
