Replacing Halogen Bulbs on Security Light

I have a Timeguard SLB400G 400W security pir light in the garden. The bulb recently blew and requires replacing.
Is it possible to replace this with a lower watt bulb i.e.120W? 400W gives too much light so was hoping it wouldn't need a direct 400W light replacement.
Thanks

You could replace the halogen tube with a lower wattage tube. just check the instructions that the PIR doesn't need a specific load to work.

Alternatively replace the unit with a LED PIR fitting for about £20.0 -
Yes you can, you see 100w and 200w versions and most of the diy places sell the lower wattage versions now, main thing to check is the length of the bulb you need as you get short (78mm) and long (118mm) linear halogens.0
