Loud music all day

Next door but one have had loud dance music blaring from their house or garden, I am not sure which, since 10am this morning. At what point is it acceptable for me to go and ask them to turn it down? It is driving me mad!

Since moving in 6 weeks ago this is the first time it has come from that particular house, and we are unsure if they are retaliating against the house next to mine, so in between the two of us, because they had a loud party until gone 3am last night.

Do I have to wait until a certain time before I can legally ask them to turn it down, or is the fact that I can hear it sitting in my living room (where I should surely have the right to a peaceful evening) enough?

After 10pm go and have a word. Be polite and courteous, but assertive.

You'll know where you stand after that...

Make a Diary of the times and dates of the loud music
If the noise carries on for some weeks contact the Environmental Health at your Local Council Office.
    They can help.

If you have neighbours who are into tit for tat retaliation, maybe you should go for just recording times and dates and reporting it to the Environmental Health dept when you can't stand it any longer.
Still striving to be mortgage free before I get to a point I can't enjoy it.

Thanks for the replies, I knocked at 10. They seemed more happy that the music was making it all that way than apologetic. But they did at least turn the music down. And it seemed that they were the ones responsible for last night too, I had just assumed it was next door as I didn't believe it could be that loud from two doors away. Anyway, they are house sitting from what I could gather, so it shouldn't be something that is an ongoing problem thankfully
