So you go of travelling get into a few £000 debt then job offer is rescinded or withdrawn or company is taken over and there is change of plans etc etc etc.
What do you do then?0 -

OP can you see ^^^ what could happen if the job offer is withdrawn ?
Yes we get you want to go traveling, not saying you can't but when you have been in the job for a few years go for it then if you have saved up enough.0 -

It means waiting, but in the long run its a much easier and less stressful way to do it than borrowing and starting your new adult life in debt.
Congratulations on the job, concentrate on that for now!
And a lot of our team have been able to travel parts of the world on the company, so there's also the chance to find a travelling job in your sector in the future, too.
By no means think that this would be your only opportunity, as there's always the chance later.💙💛 💔0 -

Not need to be construed. Omission of material facts is fraud. No one ever reads the declarations when they sign application forms.0 -
I see you're moving to London. I recommend you don't get lumbered with a debt you have to repay until you've experienced the actual cost of living here. I Think you may have underestimated how much you'll have to shell out each month.
But congratulations on the job!0 -

I have just signed my contract for an amazing, well paid job which begins in September (a grad scheme).
Having been looking for a grad job for a year and a half, I want to treat myself to going travelling. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity to have 3 months off seeing the world.
However, I don't have the funds right now. The 2k I have will all be needed to move & pay London deposit, rent etc.
I asked for an overdraft & loan at my bank but they turned me down because I told then I had handed my notice inEven although I showed them my shiny new contract & I think I have a very good credit score (I'm waiting on my free credit check coming back to confirm).
I would dearly love to rack people's brains and see if anyone has any ideas re. how I can now get credit?
Thanks in advance
what 'once in the lifetime' are you talking about?
are you part of the modern world : people travel the world at any age
you may need all the money you can get to establish yourself in

Join the Navy if you want to see the World, or save up and pay your own way like everyone else.

Just a suggestion here, i know this isnt for most people but:
If you want an uplifting experience then why dont you try doing some overseas charity work. Fundraise to help you pay for it. You will learn confidence in dealing with people, project management in fundraising, finance skills in dealing with it all and in the end once you have saved/fundraised/sponsored your way onto one of these programmes you will have time abroad doing something very worthwhile helping others.
Rather than borrowing money to sightsee, why dont you consider the above and get some real life skills early on rather than taking out debt.Total Credit Used...=........£9,000 / £52,700
Mortgage..............=........£138,000 , 20 Years left.
:starmod:CC cashback for this year..=........£112.88 £205.81 banked in 2015

Hi Starry,
you're kinda thinking about this the wrong way, the way it works is you get your dream, well paid job, you save up, and then you go travelling. Not the other way around!
Theres little chance that this is a once in lifetime opportunity unless you have some sort of terminal illness!!!£1000 Emergency fund No90 £1000/1000
LBM 28/1/15 total debt - [STRIKE]£23,410[/STRIKE] 24/3/16 total debt - £7,298
