PAYG Meter in new home
Hi I've just moved into a property with a pay as you go gas meter it's supplied by sse. I really want to get this taken out I have already had problems with the previous tenant having a debt left on it so when I topped up 70% went to pay that off. I really think it's too expensive I am spending almost £2 per day!
When I called SSE they said it would cost £52 to get it removed. I was wondering is there a supplier who will take it out for free? I haven't looked around for tariffs yet.
Thanks

Although you say you just moved into the property so it should be free with SSE

but that seems like it may only apply if you were previously supplied by SSE at your previous home on a credit meter.

Yes it's only free with SSE if they supplied via payg in your last address.0

If you had registered for an account when you moved in then you would have been sent a new card and the meter reset. It wasn't your debt to pay off.
£60 is a typical price to change it, some suppliers may do it for nothing in return for your business. Bear in mind that you may be required to reinstall a PPM at the end of your tenancy under the terms of your lease. No free lunch, and no free laptop
