Capital One payment plan

Hi there
I really hope that someone can help me.
My partner was very poorly with cancer and out of work. I called Capital One who said that I could go on a payment plan that meant that no further charges were added to my account and I had to make selected payments with a larger amount as the last payment to bring the balance to zero. I asked on more than one occasion if this would effect my credit score in any way and was told no.
I have closed that account, the balance is zero.
I today got the shock of my life when I checked my credit report. For the months that I was on the plan I am showing as the highest level of default possible.
So I called today to speak to Capital One who have fobbed me off basically. I have no paperwork regarding the plan.
Can anyone give any advice please? TIA

They will have registered it as Default because you, quite understandably, could not stick to the original agreement that you would have signed when you took out the card.
I'm sure you will be able to get it removed but I'm afraid it might take some time. There should be a link on your credit file with the precise contact details for Capital One disputes, I think a letter would be far more effective in this situation.0 -
Have you anything in writing? I doubt you do.
What difference would it have made if they had said yes?0
