Thanks for that guys,much appreciated.
I have a good case and will fight every step of the way to get this resolved.0 -
Just been through correspondence I had with Customer complaints in Edinburgh back in late 2009,,regarding complaint I made about the way NatWest had dealt with me.
Found a letter from a senior manager who wrote" regarding your loan account, this was in arrears by 4 months and was defaulted before being transfered to CSM (TRITON)
As this is a true reflection of your account we are unable to remove any adverse data.
I note that you have agreed to pay £200 per month, and once the debt is repaid the bank shall then mark the account as satisfied or if you make a reduced settlement we shall mark the account as partially settled.
So I have it in writing where they confirm the Default.
So why did Triton report the incorrect information
I am due heavy compensation for this, and shall ask for the account to be removed tomorrow at all CRAs using their rapid update service.0 -
They have the ability to remove a default and replace with arrangements.
Egg did this with me for a while, until I realised how bad arrangements were and told them to put the default back with the original date, which they did.
Now, whether they are allowed to do that is another issue.
I'd be sending a copy of your letter along with a complaint then refer to FOS if they refuse to change it.

Good News,
Although not had a formal response from Nat West I checked my experian report late last night.
Late payment markers all gone,! All 6 years of them.
Now showing Default date August 2009.
So they have back dated default nearly six years.
My credit score now up from 657 to 987 but I know these figures mean nothing.
I was only subscribing with Experian to get this issue resolved, now shall cancel.
So I won my argument the AP markers are very derogatory compared to a default nearly 6 years ago.
Now no doubt shall here from them today, maybe compensation,.
Thanks for all the info from you guys on this site.0 -
Good news.
Keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't revert next time their systems send a routine update. Can sometimes happen.

Thanks Fermi, will certainly keep a close eye on my file.
Apparently it was a an "administration" error on their part where the default was removed by mistake in 2009.
The lady who dealt with my case was indeed very helpful she instigated the complaint and resolved the matter.
.At least this will now fall off my records in August.
Appreciate all the help from you guys.0 -
Congratulations, glad you got it sorted0

Hi,
Many thanks, yes its a massive relief all round.
Hope you are able to get a good result with your case also.
Its very unfair to be reported continually in our instances for years with late payment markers,a default should be correctly applied when the original agreement breaks.
That lasts for six years so a big enough penalty in itself, but much fairer in the long run compared to ap markers, where they are then reported for a further 6 years after settlement.
I told Nat West that I would continue to pay the debt at agreed level.
After the correction I did a soft search on a CC and the results were much more favourable, not that I am looking for any credit at this time.
So in terms of a nearly expired default versus years of late payment markers its clear which is more detrimental.
I really hope you get good news too.
I don't think banks really understand how their mistakes impact on us,but at least they corrected my files immediately, that's a positive.
OK good luck and I shall be looking out for your positive news!!.0 -
Unfortunately not looking straightforward for me. Complaint rejected so now to FOS, but not feeling confident0
