Do you have to cancel a flight?

Hi,
I have a flight booked in the coming days with Monarch, but will no longer be going.
Do I have to cancel it, or is just not turning up acceptable? (given its all paid in full and they lose nothing)
Thanks for any advice

You don't have to cancel it, you will simply be registered as a no-show. If you did cancel it, you would be entitled to a refund of government taxes, since they will not be paid to the government if you don't travel, but often airlines charge an "admin fee" roughly equivalent to the taxes in order to make sure they keep your money either way. It is worth checking the T&Cs to see about this.
I'm presuming you don't have any further sectors on the same booking?0 -
Thanks for the reply.
That's what I was hoping - that I can just be a no-show and leave it at that.
It was a return flight. Well two actually.
I have just (literally weeks before) split up with the lady I was taking away, so closing and forgetting about this chapter with no hassle is perfect.
A part of me was worried I would get a bill or something due to small print somewhere.0 -
Do Monarch charge a fee for changing the name on the ticket. If so, is it reasonable. If reasonable, could you offer the tickets to a friend.Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -
They do offer name change (£100 I think).
But I am unable to find anybody who wants the tickets. I would have given them away for free to be fair, had I found somebody.0 -
I suppose if the flight is full and someone is desperate to fly on it you may be helping them if you cancel.0

Go alone.
You might meet a better lady there.0 -

£100 sounds a lot but I guess it depends where the flights are to.Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
