Desite joining that TPS thingy, we get a lot of unwanted calls to our number and so we have the machine on all the time and never actaully pick up unless its someone we want to talk too,

a lot of them are withheld numbers, a lot of them are from Pipex but we get quite a few from this number 08009889546
ive googled it and the name that keeps coming up is Direct Dialogue, and i have no idea who they are!!
normally, the line goes dead when the answer phone starts but just now someone on this number left me a message which was about 10 seconds of...erm... loud breathing,
has anyone had any dealings with these people? or do you get unwanted calls from them?
and do you think i should complain about their breathy sales techniques! :rotfl:

    0800 988 9546 is a BT Broadband Number.
  • really? how interesting...
wonder why they are leaving me dirty answerphone messages!

    thanks
  • Ill investigate that number for you tomorrow.
BT have a facility call Choose to Refuse that bars individual numbers but Im not sure if Pipex have such an option.

They probably didn't realise the call had been answered, the computer may have transferred the call to them after your outgoing answer phone message was played out.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!
(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)
  • Thanks telephone man :)
Pipex wont have anything that useful, i just know it!

and I hadnt thought about that BexTech! im not serious about the dirty phonecall thing though, just thought it was a bit of a weird answerphone message! :D

just ring the number and breath heavily down the phone back
  • Have received several calls from this number, at least twice a day – It only rings about 4 times which isn’t long enough to get to the phone. I called BT today, and they said it definitely wasn’t them. They advised me to NOT call back as even though its an 0800 number, if you have to press buttons you may be charged. Also if you answer or call back, it will let them know that you have a live line and your number may then be passed to other unscrupulous parties (a bit like responding to spam emails). I was told the only option is to change my phone number which seems a bit drastic! I was given the number of the Nuisance Call Bureau who may have more information; they are only open weekdays (today is Saturday) so shall try them on Monday. The number is 0800 411 422. Hope this helps.

1.The number is used by a call centre called CCA International UK Ltd who call customers on behalf of BT.

2.The BT person you spoke to is talking tosh, because if you dial a FreePhone Number from your landline and you have to select from a menu you cant be charged ,the call is Free, you cant change the cost of a call in mid call.
