cannot access Internet on phone

I have a Sony xperia and keep getting 'this page cannot be loaded via the chrome data compression proxy. Try reloading the page. Does anyone know what this means and what I need to do?

And it's broken or service is down so no Internet. Can you uninstall it? Bit weird as according to searches, Chrome doesn't support extension on the mobile. If you uninstall it from your Desktop / laptop's Chrome. Does it work again?

Other than trying to get rid of chrome I cannot see where I have this installed. Uninstalled chrome on laptop still cannot access anything on phone.

Thanks for everyone's replies. I managed to sort it yesterday via the chrome apps thingy. I guess I can be a little impatient. However, although I can get on the internet now whenever I go to my emails I get 'unfortunately, email has stopped working. I can get see them but I can't open them?
