CAT 5 question

does anyone make the small wall mounted sockets , that allow a pre wired cat 5 lead to plug in from the rear , and allow a cat 5 patch lead to be plugged into the front.
I have a customer , and one of there staff has "kicked off " about loose wires , and extension leads , so they now require hard wired (surface) 13amp sockets and cat 5 points
never seen any cat 5 sockets like that , do they make them?

Google your friend freddie I looked yesterday for

little bit of tweaking , and there are loads of options0 -
ok thanks I saw the "snapin " ones , but was actually looking for ones that had an internal cat 5 socket , so that the original wire with its plug would just "click" in
sorry if they are shown on that link , I might have missed them ,0 -
Probably cheaper and just as quick to use standard wall sockets and buy a Krone tool to connect the cableThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

yes I know (and would normally do this) the wiring is in a bad condition , and by touching it (apart from inserting plugs) could cause me grief in the future , its a job I don't want , but must do in order to keep other projects alive.
he will NOT pay for a rewire
I just thought it might be an easy way out0 -
Cat 5 (cat5e if older) is the cable. RJ45 is the plug.
Power and network points are usually separate. Never seen anything like what you mentioned.0 -
yes I refered to it as Cat 5 , you are correct , cat 5e or cat 6 cables with rj45 plugs on both ends ,terminating to a hub in the office and hanging loosely near desks , I would like to obtain surface mounted boxes , and front plate for each desk , the front panels I would "like" would have a rj45 socket inside them , and a RJ45 socket on there fronts , in other words a coupler , that is wall mounted
maybe something like this , http://www.cableorganizer.com/cat5e-jacks/ , dunno , am I going in the right direction?0 -
Never seen a coupler that can be wall mounted. Only thing I can think of is a cable management wall plate, if that's good enough.
