Im currently playing with my new DVD recorder, getting all my VHs onto DVD.
Once I have done this I want to rip the dvd to my computer so I can edit the content, basically just chop and choose whicch bits I want, I am not bothered about joining up the chopped bits.
Basically I am putting a 3 hour tape to DVd, on this tape there will be about 10 fights (boxing) so I want to edit out each fight, basically chop from the start of the fight to the end and just have that as one 'movie' I then want to convert to AVI so I can upload some rarer fights to Youtube.

A combination of Handbrake and Avidemux will do what you want. These are both free, open-source and do not come with any nasty adware.
