Barcelona was excellent - lovely place, great food, inexpensive even in hotspots and no pickpocketing. Good choice.0

Sarcasm?
Certainly a lovely place; and while food can be great and inexpensive that was not the case in the main tourist hotspots.
Just because the pickpockets left you alone, it doesn't mean that they weren't there, nor that they will ignore the people reading your post.0 -

Not at all.
What I meant was that we experienced all of the above. We had great food, drinks etc. in nice places and it was all very good value.
Agree about the pickpockets, rather I was saying it was fine for us as we were extremely vigilant without being over paranoid. Just need to keep your wits about you and generally it's fine. I can, however, see how they would have a field day down las ramblas as it always seems to be bustling and teeming with people. If you're careless, I imagine you'll be stung.0 -
I was there last month, staying at the Novotel City, and had a few good meals at the Glories complex, which includes el Mercat.Off on Monday for 3 days so looking for some tips. where to go, what to see and do, where to eat and drink etc. etc..

There's a Carrefour there which was great for cheap beers and picnic stuff, and opposite the tram stop down to the Marina and beach.0 -
Can't recommend highly enough this restaurant - http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g187497-d1059712-Reviews-Ciudad_Condal-Barcelona_Catalonia.html
It was absolutely packed, queue out of the door so we expected it to be good but expensive. Not so, bottle of lovely cava (€10 - I didn't understand as this would have easily been £22-24 in London) and 6-7 extremely tasty tapas dishes and it came to €45. Excellent.0 -
If you like history you must visit the Bari Gotic:

You're just used to getting ripped off in London! £22 for Cava is ridiculous! Can't recommend highly enough this restaurant - http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g187497-d1059712-Reviews-Ciudad_Condal-Barcelona_Catalonia.html

Must do: Parc Guel, Font Majica, Sagrada Famille Cathedral. You won't be able to miss Las Ramblas, the main pedestrian thoroughfare.
Have a fantastic time in a magical city, beware of pick pockets, we were lucky my husband felt his wallet go and looked around, this little lad dropped it and did a runner. Too close for comfort!!0
