I've just read Marie Kondo's book abour decluttering & tidying and am feeling very inspired to get rid of the junk that is filling my house!
This sounds interesting. Is it possible to condense the general message in the book into a few sentences or do I really have to buy and read the whole book?Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

Good afternoon everyone,
Had a takeaway last night with the boyfriend, spilt the bill, but didn't chosse very well - deceided to try a madras pizza, far too hot!
What on earth possessed you to even *think* that a madras pizza was going to be a good idea??! :rotfl:Also went to spoons for breakfast, he got the breakfast, I got the coffees.
Don't beat yourself up about it. It's a long time since I read Martin's book but I'm sure the message was not to deny yourself stuff (within reason) but to get it for the best possible price and Spoons do great value breakfastsMake £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

Hi All
Hannah - I love Basil & Co. I often think of him when dealing with difficult customers. What great comedy.
FVD -hope your son will be ok. Tent parties and booze seem such unlikely companions
Carrie - I have visions of you singing about your slug trap in a 'these are a few of my favourite things' stylee after the above description
Jo Jo - is dress hire economical as an option?
Milliemummy -thank goodness it didn't pull the ceiling down too though. That would have been awful. Commiserations on the plumber call out though.
Well today did pick up in an epic style. Went from having taken £11 at 11am to £182 by 3pm. And yes it was bedlam. But I survived. Horray! When I updated my business spreadsheet I had taken £50 more this week than last. And each week has been better than the last over the 4 so far. Still a long way from normal takings but I am pleased. Just a bit more even would be lovely.
home now awaiting a home made burger and wedges Mr is preparing. I also managed to nab 6 packs of ham on the way home marked down from £2 each to 20p each. YS heaven.
Night all.

FVD - there is a thread on the Old Style forum about this & it does sum it up. It sounds a bit odd to begin with but it works
Basically you collect all you have of thing in a place & then discard all that does not give you joy (told you it sounded odd)
Then to designate a place for each thing and fold so they stand on end rather than a pile - like when you iron & put t-shirts away normally they get stacked up & you only usually use the few on the top whereas if they are standing in end in a drawer there is no bottom one to get crushed and you can select what you take out rather than going for the easy option on the top.
Also - no keeping for best -use what you have & love
That's a really quick summary but worth popping over to the Kon Marie thread on Old style
Hope this helpsDebts 07/12/2021

Fat one I have no idea. It sounded good at the time. I'd never tried one before. Last time we took a risk on the mexian Nacho pizza it was amazing :-D
Bob I've had a quick look at dress hire, still quite expensive but very good quality items. But know I've had a little think, I've actually got a dress which would be perfect (given to me as well) all I would need is a few accessories to finish the look.
I've got a few planned days out next week with my boyfriend, which I'm looking forward to (little ones our at their daddy's and boyfriend is off work) we've got cinema, trip to Stafford upon Avon and then Liverpool for shopping, museums and a few little drinks. Been putting cash aside for a few weeks for it. Most of it is free stuff to do so just travel and food, but plenty put aside for it. Nice to know the money's there already and not having to use money I don't have or scrimp to do it.
Looking forward to the little ones going to bed so I can set up their Easter egg hunt for in the morning (we're having easter tomorrow as they go their dads at night) just hoping the youngest doesn't wake in the middle of the night and eat it all!
Also children's party tomorrow but no cost as items in stock :-D gift is a item ds2 got twice for her birthday. A little cheeky but makes sense to use it. Also a home made card. It was the last one we had planned it, but received another invite today. There never ending!!
Well time for a cuppa and to stick a film on. Night all xxDebt Remaing £315 :jBreath out the past, Breath in the futureBig Dreams Start Small0 -

like Clooties mum said there is a great thread on OS https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5146700
it is a bit bonkers but you are supposed to sort your stuff out in categories (i.e. all clothes, all books, all papers etc) - pick each thing up in your hands and ask if it brings you joy! if not then get rid! then when storing you have to think about what will make your things 'happy' - this makes more sense when you are actually doing it - pack your things away so you can find them easly and they are stored logically.
there are lots of youtube videos about it and i bet you could pick the book up at your local libraryLBM - 3rd March 2015 - [STRIKE]£3604[/STRIKE] £0

Evening all
Not much sleep last night, and I still feel grotty, so had a sleep this afternoon
I do feel a bit more human now, but have started coughing and wheezing so that doesn't bode well for sleep tonight (I have asthma and it plays up when I get a cold) Still, enough moaning from me, and I haven't been entirely idle.
List for today:
Made bread in bread machine
Shopping in Waitrose to use £8 off a £40 shop voucher
Continued with my stocktaking mission (a lot of my sales stock is little bits, one offs, and this means it takes a long time firstly to locate it all, and then note it down and price it). Still a way to go, but I think I only have the garage to search now - and that can wait for a day when it isn't peeing down with rain
Shepherds pie for supper (OH made this)
Not an impressive list, but better than nothing
FVonD, hope your son is ok. I am sure he will be - they drive you nuts at that age, don't they? I am glad mine are past that now. In fact, with children of their own, they all have it to look forward to for themselves :rotfl:
Glad your cafe is doing well Bob
Right, hopefully I will get more done tomorrow0
