Friday 3rd April - what small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and canceling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
Morning BB & all who follow

Well opened up for 9 but no one has been in yet. I've made more sausage rolls & scones & am roasting some peppers with thyme for any lunchtime salads but that's it now as I'm closed for the next 2 days and things need to be fresh.
Today should be a no spend day. Husband is taking son to a free small furries workshop at Pets at Home later.
I will be at work till 4.
Son's Nan sent him £10 in his easter card. He was pleased as he has almost £800 in his own little account purely saved from amounts like that since he was born. It's amazing how it adds up. We also save for him separately but he doesn't know about that.
Anyway all. Have a good Friday. On good Friday :)

  • Good morning!

Thanks to Bailey's Babe for starting the thread

Dawn - hope you feel better soon

Bob - sorry to hear about the filming, but now they have seen the place, they may consider you for something else?

GettingOrganised - glad you are on the mend

FatVonD - I make my own shortcrust but I didn't realise that anyone actually made puff pastry for themselves! I take my hat off to you!

Hello to everyone and I hope you all have a peaceful Easter.

Even though it's piddling down with rain here and is set to all day, I'm feeling happy and perky at the thought of four lovely days off to be me :)

The plan today is not particularly mse as it will be spendy, but it's spendy on the garden so perhaps is mse in the long run? I need big pots for my new apple trees and lot and lots of compost to plant them in! I also need compost for the new strawberry pots!

The garden is looking promising this morning. The leaves are out on the blueberry bush, the radishes have sprouted and the first squash has its leaves fully out now. The slug trap is full of slugs.

    Today's plan:
    • Go to garden centre to look at pots and compost. Compare prices to homebase while there. Possibly drive to homebase too.
    • Trip to supermarket for medium sized shop
    • B/L/D from stores
    • Quite mild today so heating off in the day and not on til later
    • Possibly some batch cooking
    • Make some bread
    • Bit of housework
    • Crochet later
Small list! but looking forward to it

    Have a good one all

Okay, before I get a reputation as some kind of pastry whizz I'd just like it to be known that I only make shortcrust too, I just use it for everything :rotfl:

No big plans for today but I do have everything in the fridge for a full English for brunch.

I need to drive my son to his friends as they're all camping out tonight and our tent is really heavy. it will give me the chance to give him a lecture on the way as I'm worried they'll get drunk, pass out and die of hypothermia. Im regretting giving him extra money now.

Another chill day home with the hubby & boys, done a bit of sorting out upstairs and found that I have 5 bottles of shower spray hidden away at the back of a cupboard in the showeroom, I don't remember buying them , but we must be talking 5+ yrs ago!! So given the shower a quick once over and moved them to a cupboard that I go in everyday so I see them and use them up!

Mum lent us the Faulty Towers boxset to watch so hubby & I are going to watch an episode in a minute with a cuppa before we think about sorting out lunch.

Doing all the usuals, checking banks Done, updating spreadsheet Done , tcb Done , fpl,Done quidco,Done swagbucks (close to payout-yay £5 claimed & bonuses paid so hubby got a £5 out too )
NSD as not going out - Didn't go out but did spend!! Saw a code for spend £60 on lego at Mr T and get extra 1000 points so bought 16 of the little kits all less then £3.99 which I will use for kids birthday presents for class parties (usually put £5 in cards) and that 1000 points will be worth £40 of days out vouchers ready for use in the summer :)
Make a spreadsheet of jobs to be done once the kids are back to school. Done, its a long list but broken down the jobs and going to do one drawer/cupboard at a time.
All food from stores - may do some cheese scones this afternoon Scones didn't happen we had cwtches on the sofa with the boys and watched Earth to Echo that someone had given hubby for the boys.
Entertainment, Faulty Towers & then the 3rd Bourne Film this evening.

    Good afternoon!

Unfortunately ended up a rather spendy day as last night, the ceiling started leaking so this morning, I had to call the plumber out. He fixed my water tank which was the culprit and luckily, didn't charge extra for a bank holiday callout. But an unexpected expense nonetheless.
Glad I've got the day off though.

    Today's list:

Clean up after plumber...have tidied and hoovered.
Wash coats that got dripped on overnight
    Litter changes& bunny changes ....done
    Check bank...done
    Check one poll, etc
B/L/D from stores...DS1 on dinner duty!
    Continue decluttering

Think that's about it for today. ...I'm done in already!!

    Debt-free and Proud!
Hi all - hope you're all enjoying the bank holiday so far!

Was lovely to sleep in this morning and not have to worry about going to work.

I've just read Marie Kondo's book abour decluttering & tidying and am feeling very inspired to get rid of the junk that is filling my house! Made a start on clothes this morning and I think I've halved the amount in my wardrobe and drawers. Quite a lot in there that can go on ebay too, which will get me a bit of extra cash to chuck at the CCs. :j

Am meeting a friend for a v cheap happy hour glass of wine, before coming back to Kondo more this evening (will go for books next, which I'm not looking forward to as I have so many and I'm really sentimental about them).

    Other little stuff:
    Check banks
    Update spreadsheet
    Cook something from stores
    Swagbucks/surveys etc

I read the £10 a day challenge and I can't believe how quickly it seems to add up - am going to play along in my own way this month and see about joining properly in May...

    Good afternoon everyone,

Had a takeaway last night with the boyfriend, spilt the bill, but didn't chosse very well - deceided to try a madras pizza, far too hot! Also went to spoons for breakfast, he got the breakfast, I got the coffees. So few unplanned spends but every now and then it nice to have a treat. I did however save a day in childcare with the good Friday so up overall.

Boyfriend just asked me to come a wedding with him in May. He's the best an and its themed steam punk. He said I can come in a nice dress but will look into outfits. If he's the best man I think I should dress up too, we'll see.

    Today's listy

    - lunch/tea from stock
    - quick tidy up
    - check banking
    - check emails
    - postcode lottery
    - something on eBay/facebook pages
