O/S Daily Thursday 2nd April 2015

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning all,

Up early today as I am off to work last day before three days off though so not too bad, we have birds of prey coming in today which will be nice, but not as manic as its been all week I think.

Will drop dd at the station tonight for her to go back to her place, I think she will be back sometime next week.

Gala pie for dinner with jacket potato and salad, I bought what I thought was 100g for OH lunch and in fact had bought 1KG !! the driver had already gone so could not send it back, oh well I am sure it will be nice :rotfl:

Had a really good clean through yesterday, got loads of little jobs done that have been bugging me, so not too much to do over the weekend, although I do want to get the grass cut if it stays dry.

Have good days all xx

    Morning everyone.

Bit grey outside though no storms.

Today will be a quiet day. Visitors want to go for a walk so have left them to it. I will have a morning to myself at last. Joiner may call in at some point as I want some garden tables made. Not sure what the correct name is, just like large trays on legs to hold pots or seedlings but in the garden. My sore knee won't let me bend it very far so want salad type plants higher up but not raised beds. There must be a proper name for them.

Anyway, food is left overs. Losing weight starts in earnest after the Easter Bunny has visited. Wouldn't want to be rude to him!

Hope Good Friday is really good for everyone.
  • Morning one and all. Miserable here too and rain forecast later. But we are promised a nice weekend so live in hope!

Gers, I refer to them as potting tables but don't know if that's the proper name either! I can't bend either with my hip and find gardening less enjoyable these days!

Well it's Friday cleaning day in store - these Friday's do roll round quickly! I dust (and polish where needed) and MR TA follows on with the vac. Then he leaves the kitchen and bathroom to me! I have a basket full of washing but may leave that till tomorrow and, hopefully, get it pegged out if we get the promised fine weather!

Have a good day all, take care x

    Morning everyone,

I have become too much of an occasional poster recently, I do read most days.

Gers Enjoy your peace and quiet.
HH Hope that you recover quickly.
    LW, Hilstep Hugs.
    Judi How are you today?
BB Belated birthday wishes, hope that you had a lovely day.

Work has been incredibly busy for the last 6 weeks but we finally broke up yesterday.:T

Today our lovely local plumber is coming out on a bank holiday to replace my badly leaking hot water tank, we discovered it was leaking two days ago and now the drip has progressed to a constant trickle which means that towels around it have to be replaced every two hours!
We are also having a window replaced on Tuesday as every time it rains the water pours in through the rotten wood.
Our shower is also broken but I feel that we may have to do with out that for a while as the pennies will only stretch so far.

Oh well they say these things come in threes!

Have a lovely restful day everyone.:)

    Morning :hello:

I frightened Scampi yesterday  His reaction pretty much confirmed what I thought about how he's been treated previously. I can stroke his face from his nose, up between his eyes and over his head and he loves it, as long as my hand comes from the side of his face (hope that makes sense?), if my hand is directly in front of him he backs rights off, loses eye contact, he turns his head slightly and his ears go back and down. I'm convinced he was punished with a hit on the nose. Yesterday he was chewing what I thought was a battery, without thinking I went towards him quickly and tried to get it out of his mouth, he panicked, dived under the coffee table and got defensive. Didn't go for me or anything, he just had to get away. If I'd stopped and thought for just a second, I'd have remembered that the batteries are in a cupboard five and a half feet from the floor and there's no way he can get at them :o So I managed to rescue him from – a chapstick :D After that, he did what I asked immediately (calling him for food, to go into the garden for a wee, etc) but I didn't like that at all, he was only doing it because he was scared of me. He seems OK with me this morning, a bit quiet though  I suppose it'll take a bit of time for him to trust me again? Not too long I hope

It grey and raining here, walks should be fun, Scampi doesn't like rain :D Mr tru is off work today, on his days off we've both gone on the morning walk but I'm going by myself today, after yesterday I want Scampi to know I'm not going to do anything to him if he doesn't listen first time. It's a bit of a test really, I want to see if he still reacts the same way to traffic (mad barking) or if he stays quiet because he thinks I'm going to tell him off.

We'll be having a lazy afternoon I think, there's nowhere to go with a still-in-training dog in this weather and I certainly won't be gardening :D

Back to the grey skies and rain, still I got washing dried outside yesterday. Nearly organised for my trip, the problem with taking the car is that you take everything for every eventuality!

Hope you are all well, Happy Easter. Take care. XX

Good morning chums typical bank holiday weather I see.dark damp and prospect of rain.

Yesterday was really bright as well.My eldest DD has gone of to her caravan in Deal for the weekend. She says she want to spring clean it as its open for the season now. They don't rent it out, just keep it for any of the family to use as and when, and her and her OH ofen go at weekends during the season.
Youngest DD is off to watch Gillingham FC play with her OH and the boys ,so I have a nice free day just pottering around indoors:)

Suits me beautifully, as I enjoy doing what ever :) I think I may just sloth out today and watch tv and maybe do a bit of knitting. I have several films available on my TiVo box that I keep for the odd 'free' day.I will also have my soup pot on as I want to make some leek and tattie soup.
Tomorrow I may take the little boys to the cinema depending on whats available.DGS Ben is enjoying his holiday job at groombridge Place bless him.He is coming back home late on Sunday with his G/F for dinner so I'll here all about it then.
Hope everyone has a great weekend and gets to relax a bit
<<hugs>> to those who are down or feeling poorly
    Cheers chums

  • Morning, ((((((((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))))if you need one.

Very dank here too, hope it does not rain until they have delivered my new to us settee, do not want it to get wet.

Off to the flicks with OH,DD2, and DGD so something new for us, its 20 years since we last went. Robin Hood, prince of theives I think was the last film we saw. I usually wait for them to come on the TV, but we watched the first Marigold Hotel on TV at Christmas, when I knew they were making a second film I said I would like to see it. Its at the local flea pit,

Nothing planned for the weekend, just slobbing around. We usually stay close to home on Bank holidays these days, one less vehicle on the road is how we look at it. It was different when we were working although even then we worked flexi so could take time off when we wanted it.

Youngest is off to Doncaster this morning to spend the bank holiday weekend with his girlfriend. He's packing as I type. He's hoping catch the train around midday.

Weather is wet and miserable but I won't be going anywhere today.

    Onwards and forwards

    Have a great day all.

Same grey skies down here I'm afraid. It's looking better the rest of the weekend, so fingers crossed.

It'll be a quiet day, making a meal plan then quick trip to Lidl to get some bits for the weekend. Maybe a little drink down the pub then a veggie curry from freezer & cupboard stock.

Nice to be home for four days though. :)
