Switched from BG to SP seemingly in limbo

I used one of the links on this site to switch dual fuel supply from British Gas to Scottish Power on Feb 26th. They quickly sent an email saying expected switch date on 12th March and estimates of what my DD amounts would be based on my previous BG consumption.
Several weeks have passed and nothing... All I've had was a PDF letter from Scot Power saying my DD 'has changed' for gas and electricity comprising £49.00 gas and £0.00 electricity????...However, on the home screen of my account, it says next DD £87 on 12th June. I'm assuming that is 49 gas and 38 elec, but they don't say. Also, if the switch date was 12th March, is it normal to have a three month wait before the account actually goes live?

Switching supplier can take as little as 17 days from the suppliers receipt of your application, but (depending on supplier)may still take about 4 weeks.
If you go through a 3rd party (such as a comparison site) then you may need to allow extra time for them to send your application to the supplier - that could be up to another week.
You could always contact the supplier if you want an update on progress, or you don't fully understand something they have sent you, ... but maybe not at 1.14am or on a bank holiday.0
